About the Role:
Buntu Bethu Group is looking for a financially astute professional with a passion for high-end fashion & textiles business. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of our group of companies. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the dynamics of retail, manufacturing luxury brand positioning and business in general. You will play a key role in driving financial strategy, managing budgets, and delivering insights that contribute to the growth and profitability of our group.
Key Responsibilities(but not limited to):
- Financial Planning: Develop and maintain financial frameworks tailored to the different needs of our group of companies, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the development of seasonal and annual budgets, aligning with sales cycles and inventory planning.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and detailed financial reports including profit and loss, cash flow statements, management reports, ad-hoc reports and retail-specific metrics.
- Strategic Insights: Provide data-driven insights to support executive decisions on investments, pricing strategies, store rollouts, and marketing ROI.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor inflows and outflows, ensuring liquidity for product development, merchandising, and supplier commitments.
- Risk Management: Identify financial risks unique to retail and non-profit projects, including currency fluctuations, inventory holding costs, and supplier credit terms.
- Inventory & Cost Analysis: Work closely with merchandising and operations teams to manage stock costs, margins, and markup strategies.
- Compliance & Record Keeping: Ensure accurate financial record-keeping in line with retail and industry-specific regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with marketing, design, and sales teams to align financial goals with the brand’s creative direction and expansion plans.
- Monitor daily finance transactions of the overall group.
- Collect and interrogate source documents.
- Update finance Key performance Indicators (KPI’s) on a daily or when necessary.
- Investigate finance irregularities.
- Lead a team of finance professionals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Professional certification (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- 5+ years of financial management experience, ideally within retail, manufacturing, operations, fashion, or luxury goods.
- Strong grasp of retail finance, inventory management, and brand-driven business models.
- Advanced Excel and financial software skills; experience with ERP systems used in retail is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership capabilities.
- Experience supporting rapid growth and strategic expansion.
Working Hours:
This position requires a standard commitment of 40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend access may be necessary during events, seasonal launches, special occasions or emergencies. Given the global nature of our company across multiple time zones, the Financial Manager may, in certain circumstances, be expected to provide support outside of regular working hours, including potential 24-hour availability when critical needs arise.
Salary:
Competitive and negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications.
